At Christmas time, Plum Cakes are a very special attraction. Plum cakes are a traditional part of the Christmas celebration and date back to medieval times. Plum cake refers to a wide range of cakes usually made with spices, dried fruits such as currants, raisins, sultanas, or prunes, and also sometimes with fresh fruits. The spices represented the exotic eastern spices brought by the Wise Men. This cake became known as “Christmas cake.”
