Traditionally, wedding cakes were made to bring good luck to all guests and the couple. the cake is usually on display and served to guests at the reception. Modernly, however, they are more of a centrepiece to the wedding and are sometimes not even served to the guests. Wedding cakes come in a variety of types and sizes, depending on the number of guests the cake will serve. Marzipan, fondant, gum paste, buttercream, and chocolate are among the popular ingredients used. Traditional wedding cakes are white and consists of layers of tiers – which can be of different flavours – positioned one on top of other using pillars.
